Paris in October: Travel Style Diaries
“Paris is ALWAYS a good idea”
- Audrey Hepburn
Paris... j'aime Paris et j'aime la mode parisienne ♥ The most romantic city on earth (and most instagrammable), where everywhere you turn there’s somewhere to stop and take in the beauty of it all. Recently I had the opportunity to travel here for a few days making it my 5th time returning to a city I’ve completely fallen in love with. This city has so much to offer but it’s the freedom of fashion expression that inspires me the most. At home I would simply find myself dressing down just to avoid the attention or the “who does she think she is” glares. But with Paris I feel like you could walk down the street in the most brightly coloured ensemble and not be seen as the odd one out. Fashion is so accepted and admired here; so much so that everyone I passed I could differentiate various personal styles. It’s refreshing to be able to express a form of your identity in the way you dress and have the confidence to wear what you want rather than to just fit in with the crowd. Paris gives me that confidence to express forms of my personal style I didn’t even know I had.
Day 1 - Disneyland Paris
The first day I wore a plain top and jeans outfit but added a snakeskin belt bag from Topshop to make it that little bit different (unfortunately this is out of stock but I linked the same bag in a different print below). The perfect casual outfit for non other that the MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH! Disneyland Paris of course!! I’m one for big thrills and bringing out my inner child whenever I can, honestly it would make the grumpiest person crack a smile. I needed my outfit to be plain comfy, (especially when you’re prepared to stand in hour long queues) but mainly to not take away from the glitzy mouse ears of course! Even at 23, never will I grow out of this place…
Little tip; for the pictures there is a little door at the top of the stairs in Sleeping Beauty’s Castle that takes you out onto a terrace where not many people go (great gram opportunity!), it looks over the whole park!
Day 2- Walt Disney Studios
The second day was spent in Walt Disney Studios, (of course need a full day for each park !!) and kept it very casual and weather appropriate (especially when you’re battling an unexpected heatwave… in OCTOBER!!).
Day 3 - Place de la Concorde and Tuileries Garden
First Day exploring Paris; full of macaroons, mini espressos and drinks along the Seine.. Adding in the currently on trend leopard print to my outfit in the form of comfy culottes; perfect for walking about all day. I love a plain black shirt because it’s so versatile, it’s the perfect smart/casual top to compliment any statement skirt or trousers. Definitely not typical October weather in Paris with clear sunny skies and temperatures reaching 20 degrees. Let’s just say no coat needed!! So the light and flowy shirt and culottes definitely were weather appropriate.
From the surroundings of the Louvre Pyramid to the Tuileries Garden, there are endless gram opportunities, but it was the fountain at Place de la Concorde which I loved the most!
Day 4 - Musee du Louvre and Palais de Chaillot
Last day exploring Paris and we had to make it to the Mussee du Louvre! (Who knew that on the first Sunday of every month it’s free entry?!). It’s such an inspirational place; somewhere I’ve always felt I’ve gone into and let my overthinking mind just take a break and focus on the beautiful artwork. Going somewhere artistic I wanted to make a statement in what I was wearing; definitely vibing a mix of Serena Van der Woodsen/Blair Waldorf. By changing up the colour pallette for this outfit I already felt more me; instead of my go to autumnal neutrals (beige and black); I went for my favourite colour.. burgundy.
Of course I couldn’t explore Paris without a cheeky stop along the Champs Elysees… I’m a Zara girl through and through and if there’s one thing about Europe, their Zara just seems wayyyy better (seriously). The pieces I bought there gave me such chanel vibes! Anything checked and tweed I’m sold! Plus that gold button detail is giving some subtle Versace - esque feels ♥
Don’t get me started on the huge out of this world Sephora ♥ My actual kryptonite.. I don’t even want to imagine my bank account if this ever came to Northern Ireland. Of course I couldn’t not buy anything right?! When it comes to buying make-up I definitely have an obsession but there’s so many new and shiny products coming out everyday I just can’t resist! However, I was very proud of myself to keep it to 3 things…(Well ,,technically 2 and a half).
You can find below linked are all the products I purchased! I have to say though, travelling with only a very full carry-on case meant there was a lot of hard decisions when it came to what was good enough to make it’s way back to Northern Ireland… and those miniatures are so cheeky! Just enticing you in like “hey I’m small and cheaper (but not really) and I can travel home with you in your liquid bag, buy me”.. God dammit I gave in..
I’ve always wanted to try the cult favourite Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation and since we don’t have any Armani retailers back home it just seemed like the perfect time to purchase! I went for the shade 6.0 which is a golden-y beige tone; the perfect shade since I wear a lot of fake tan (Irish girl problems). Sephora sheet masks and the Farsali Rose Gold Elixir I have used before and they are complexion heaven!! Honestly my skin has never felt so good after using these products.
Hope you enjoyed and I’ll catch up soon!
