Hey my lovelies! I’m so excited to bring a new section to my blog which is so close to my heart and everything that I believe in. This is a subject more women everyday are bringing to light, after the evolvement of the #MeToo movement and the fight for equality, this is the best time to emphasise the importance of EMPOWERMENT. Empowerment within ourselves as well as encouraging empowerment in others…

What does it really mean to be empowered?

Empowerment of women is described as the “Process by which women gain power and control over their own lives and acquire the ability to make strategic choices ..” - European Institute for Gender Equality

All women should have the right to feel like they have power and control over their own lives. It is about giving women choice, and not only that but to ensure we are reminded we can go after that opportunity, that any dream is possible, and that no woman should feel restricted because of this social suggestion that being a woman is in any way a negative factor. Empowered women result in positive effects socially and economically; to the individual it brings happiness and fulfillment, it is the ultimate essence of GIRL POWER! This is all content very much to inspire and hopefully encourage women and young girls to feel that no dream is too big and no dreamer is too small ♥

What will I be talking about?

Don’t get me wrong I’m not here to talk about women overpowering men etc. etc. Male empowerment is just as important as female empowerment and vice versa because female empowerment to me is about taking gender out of the equation altogether. It’s about not making femininity a restricting factor for opportunities to be accessible, voices to be heard or happiness/fulfillment to be achieved. It’s about challenging this stigma that a powerful woman is intimidating, where instead girls should be encouraged to reach their optimum potential. As part of Blog for Wellness I’m so excited and passionate to be sharing this with you and the work I’ve been recently doing!! I’ll be posting about:

  • What empowers me in my my life including blogging, career and daily bits

  • Steps you can take to feel empowered

  • Women in business, and why it’s important to encourage female empowerment commercially, particularly in N. Ireland

  • I want to talk about some very empowering women who are role models to me and their journeys

  • Bringing awareness to issues women still face everyday in Northern Ireland and all over the world, not only in the fight for gender equality but also general issues preventing empowerment and the effects on mental health

  • I’ll also be commenting on my upcoming volunteer work and charities that are very close to my heart

  • And so much more!!

To finish on a super positive note, here are some affirmations I live by that I learned through a very empowered female herself, business woman and former Victoria Secret Model Miranda Kerr. Her book ‘Treasure Yourself’ is one of my favourite reads and from it here are a few affirmations for a positive mind and outlook.

  1. “I trust my future to be positive - Louise L. Hay ❀ I create my future daily filled with positivity and love - Miranda Kerr”

  2. “I compliment and praise others which enriches both our lives - Deepak Chopra ❀ I take time to acknowledge people for the gift they are in my life. I recognise and appreciate the love that enriches my soul - Miranda Kerr”

  3. “ I feel passionately about my life, and this passion fills me with excitement and energy - Wayne W. Dyer ❀ Life excites me. I am passionate about my goals and excited by the opportunities the universe provides - Miranda Kerr”
