Disciple Skincare Review

Disciple Skincare Review

Stripping way way back I’m going to be totally honest here and tell you I've really really sensitive skin, typically dry and a lovely addition of an oily t-zone. So as you can imagine it's hard to find the right products to combat such a skin type. After really getting down about my skin as the cold weather sets in and I get the odd play up, I had a desperate search through Cult Beauty to see what brands could help which I hadn't yet tried. Literally searched for best skincare to calm sensitive skin, and what popped up was this amazing brand; Disciple. Honestly, I've never looked back..

Disciple

When I came across Disciple they described themselves as being the solution to sorting put stressed out skin. All started by Charlotte Ferguson who wanted to created ‘adaptogen-rich’ formulas to rebalance skin by helping it adapt to it’s environment, both internally and externally. The products are said to be blended from very naturally rich ingredients such as prebiotics (to nourish the good bacteria) and linoleic acid (balancing that awful sebum stuff). It’s a very cost effective brand and I’m so excited to tell you about the products that worled for me and essentially gave a massive improvement in the condition of my skin.

Of course I was intrigued (and slightly desperate) to try and seeing all the 5 star reviews I definitely had high hopes. After a few days of using the products I could see a massive difference in the balance of my skin; the sensitivity and redness had calmed down incredibly. After 3 weeks of using the products I had incredibly balanced skin and even things like the weather that would normally irritate it wasn’t having that same harsh effect! I love this brand and for anyone with sensitive skin this is honestly your holy grail and its not that expensive either! You can buy the whole trial pack for £32.20 which includes all the products I’ve reviewed below plus a cleanser! (Full disclosure this isn’t a paid review, it’s just that good!)

The products I ended up purchasing were the Balancing Mist (£12.00), and two miniatures of the serums ‘Dreamy Skin’ and ‘Good Skin’ (£17.00).

The Serums

I know if you have sensitive skin and hearing the word oil is a big no no, I was the same! I know you may shy away from these once you hear oil but these oils are specifically tailored to sensitive/ irritated skin. They include essential fatty acids, oils and prebiotics that claim to make irritated/unbalanced skin clear, radiant and nourished. I absolutely love them! The Good Skin oil is to be used in the morning and the Dreamy Skin is to be used at night as it’s that bit more potent. Now I’m no skincare expert but I can go by the results these oils gave me. I saw a huge difference with the Dreamy Skin oil, when I woke up in the morning, my skin was so much more calm and evenly toned with a slight radiance to it. This has the most deliciously nourishing ingredients rosehip seed oil and retinyl. This is the best place to start if your looking to eventually introduce you skin to retinol for its age defying properties. I’ll be honest and say the good skin oil didn’t give as big a difference as the Dreamy skin but it still gave that nourishment throughout the day and I noticed a little less redness compared to what I would’ve been experiencing. It contains cucumber seed oil, tumeric oil and antibacterial geranium oil, specifically formulated to fight redness and dryness throughout the day.

I know if I had to choose between them I’d choose the Dreamy skin oil however both together they give fantastic results. The Good Skin oil is more protective in its use whereas Dreamy Skin oil is more regenerative; both were able to improve my skins texture and colouration. I’m not gonna lie there’s still gong to be that odd time when I get a bit of redness or a hormonal spot (who doesn’t?!) but overall I have seen a huge improvement!!

Dreamy Skin - Rosehip Seed Oil (Rosa Mosqueta), Watermelon Seed Oil, Retinyl Palmitate, Blue Chamomile Oil*, Frankincense Oil*, Jojoba Oil, Jasmine Oil, Burdock Root Extract**, Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Good Skin - Cucumber Seed Oil, Turmeric Oil*, Rosemary Oil, Geranium Oil*, Lavender Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Burdock Root Extract**, Extra Virgin Olive Oil

The Balancing Mist

This is the toner answer to people with sensitive skin’s prayers! Honestly it not only tones but it’s so refreshing and soothing once applied. You can use it as part of your cleansing routine or just to simply give your skin a boost throughout the day. I love putting this stuff on as a post travel skin treat, to relieve that gross skin feeling when you get off a plane. My skin instantly feels amazing!

Not only is it an incredible skin loving multitasker, it is seriously effective in balancing. You know the way I said I have those pesky dry and oily sections well this mist is derived from geranium flower which can balance oily patches as well as encouraging the right amount of oil production on dry patches. It really gives my skin that boost it craves ! Not only that but apparently is can balance out skin hormone levels.. (no idea how it can do that but it gives the results so I’m happy).

Combined with the oils, it really is a three step system to calmer and re balanced skin. Can you tell how much I love it?

Balancing Mist - 100% Pure Geranium Water (Hydrolat), Copper Tripeptide-1, Glycerin

If you have a similar skin type to me I’d really recommend giving this a try! It’s formulated for all skin types but I’m not sure how much of a difference you would see if you have good skin already but the skin always needs a bit of a re balance and refresh once in a while ♥
